I never made a comparison of Mare to The Killing, I was just talking about specific features of the one show. Go back to my initial comment, then read yours, and then tell me how your mind jumped from what I was talking about to what you're talking about. How does The Killing relate to what I am saying about how Mare of Easttown appeals to women? You could at least pay attention. Your opinion doesn't upset me, you are totally entitled to it. It is frustrating repeating myself over and over for someone who is clearly not taking the time to comprehend what I am saying. I do love how we are finally starting to shed light on the black experience in a meaningful, and not exploitative way. There are lots of old and new movies and TV shows where men discuss their feelings about war.Lol sorry, like i said - a huge stretch, but I found it interesting. Maybe after Vietnam, that archetype became at odds with actual reality. Maybe I'm stretching here, but the "warrior" archetype has, throughout history, been associated with honor and bravery. I guess I just meant, the Vietnam War was, unlike WWII, completely pointless and genocidal). we were founded by genocide, maintained by it. EDIT: also that sounds ridiculous now that I re-read it. Funny you mention this - it wasn't until Vietnam that America actually turned a corner and started committing blatant genocide (or "the Vietnam war" smh.I'd recommend Mindhunters to you if you want to see compelling representation of male murder victims (in addition to a bunch of female victims, all based on reality too).
